Q: Can I use Subaru Finance for used vehicles?
A: Yes! Subaru Finance offers financing solutions, whether you are in the market for a new Subaru or a used vehicle.The maximum age for used vehicles is 12 years at the end of the loan term (17 years for Tasmania).
Q: Are there any application costs and/or monthly charges?
A: Yes. Fees and charges do however vary depending on the facility, so please contact your nearest participating Subaru Finance Retailer for further details.
Q: What financial information do I need to provide to Subaru Finance when applying for credit?
A: The financial information required depends on whether you are a personal or a business applicant. In general, personal applicants will be required to show the following items:
- Current drivers licence;
- Rent receipts or copy of rates notice;
- Confirmation of comprehensive vehicle insurance (of course your participating Subaru Retailer can also provide you with an insurance quote, through Subaru Insurance);
- Most recent payslips and/or other confirmation of financial information (e.g. your tax return).
Your participating Subaru Finance Business Manager will advise if any further documentation is required.
Q: How long does it take to settle a finance agreement?
A: Settlement time varies depending on the individual application. In general, a contract will take approximately 24 hours to settle following approval of the application. Your Finance Business Manager will contact you when your contract has settled.
Q: Can I pay my account weekly?
A: No, payments can be made either fortnightly (consumer loans only) or monthly. The payment terms are set at the acceptance of your contract, so that is the time when you must choose the option to make fortnightly or monthly payments. Once the contract has been accepted by Subaru Finance, your payment due dates form part of the terms and conditions of your contract and cannot be varied.
Payments can be made at your own convenience either via BPAY or through a Periodical Payment. Direct Debits always occur on the days specified by an electronic version of your contract. These dates represent the due date of your payments and cannot be varied on an ongoing basis. If your payments are received after the due date, you may incur late payment and additional interest charges. Early termination fees are payable when you pay out your loan early.
Q: Can I make my payment by credit card?
A: No. You’re not able to use another credit facility to pay a Subaru Finance contract directly. Similarly, direct debits are not available from credit cards at this stage.
Q: Can I reduce the periodical payment amount?
A: Your contract specifies the minimum periodical payments you must make. Direct debit amounts cannot be reduced below the minimum periodical payment rate as specified in your contract. Depending on the circumstances however, e.g. in cases of hardship, it may be possible to reduce your payments. Contact our service centre on 1300 293 293 to discuss if a variation to your Subaru Finance contract is possible.
Q: Why do I have to comprehensively insure my car?
A: The terms and conditions of your contract require that your vehicle be comprehensively insured at all times. You must make sure that your insurance company is aware that the vehicle is under finance with Subaru Finance. Participating Subaru Retailers can provide you with a quote for Subaru Insurance.
Q: When do I receive a statement on my account?
If you have a hire purchase, Chattel mortgage or lease facility, you will need to call 1300 293 293 to receive a statement.
Q: Can I make lump sum payments?
A: Yes, you can make additional payments. However, if as a result of the lump sum payments made you repay your loan early, early termination fees apply. Please check your finance contract where all fees and charges are disclosed. Alternatively, call our service centre on 1300 293 293.

Q: What other methods can I pay by?
A: See options below:
1. Direct debit
You can request direct debit with any Australian bank account by filling in a direct debit request form and returning to Subaru Finance. There are no charges from Subaru Finance, although some banks may charge a processing fee on direct debits. Please check with your bank regarding their fee structure. Direct debit forms can be downloaded from our website or we can mail or fax them to you. We do however require the original signature of the signatory to the account from which you wish to establish the direct debit.
It is your responsibility to have funds available in your bank account to be drawn on the contracted dates. Any dishonour fees charged by your bank or the late cancellation of a direct debit fee will be incurred by you and unfortunately cannot be refunded by Subaru Finance.
2. Periodical payment
"Periodical payment authorities" are standing authority arrangements made directly with your bank. This authorises your bank to make payments directly from your account on specific dates. We are unable to vary periodical payment authorities, as only you can give these directions to your bank. Any variation (including cancellations) must be made at your own bank branch.
A periodical payment authority can be set up with your bank to make payments directly to your Subaru Finance contract. You’ll need to supply your bank with the complete BSB and account number of your contract as shown on your payment booklet. You must also be able to guarantee that your instructions to the bank will enable your payments to be received by the due date of the payment. Periodic payments may incur charges from your bank. Please check with your bank regarding their fee structure.
Internet banking
You can use your bank’s Internet banking facility to make payments via BPAY, or by using the ‘pay anyone’ facility. Your contract number consists of a BSB or branch number and account number. For example: BSB: 013 009, Account/Contract Number: 353123123.
Q: What is a finance/novated lease?
A: Finance leaseˆ:
If you use your car predominantly for business purposes and you have an ABN, you may be eligible. With this lease, Subaru Finance buys the vehicle and leases it to you. You then make regular lease payments to use the vehicle. At the end of the lease term you can return the vehicle, which will be sold at auction, or you can make an offer to us to purchase the vehicle.
ˆAvailable to body corporates and sole traders/partnerships where the vehicle will be used predominantly for your business (50% or more).
Novated lease: If you are an employee, you may be able to receive a vehicle as part of your salary package. You select the car, and your employer takes responsibility for the lease payments while you are employed and use the vehicle.
Q: What happens if I can’t make a payment?
A: Late payments must be arranged by calling our service centre on 1300 293 293. We’ll consider making a temporary payment arrangement.
Direct debits require a minimum of 72 hours to cancel or alter. If you request to alter a direct debit with less than 72 hours notice, we can’t guarantee your request will be processed in time to affect the existing payment arrangement and dates.
It’s your responsibility to have funds available in your bank account to be drawn on the contracted dates. Any dishonour fees charged by your bank or the late cancellation of a direct debit fee will be incurred by you and unfortunately cannot be refunded by Subaru Finance.
All applications for credit are subject to normal credit approval criteria. Fees and charges apply. Terms and conditions are available on application. Subaru Finance products are issued by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited ABN 11 005 357 522 trading as Subaru Finance.
