2012 Santos Tour Down Under
15-22 January
Adelaide, South Australia
Victorian Simon Gerrans has sealed a fairytale debut for the fledgling GreenEDGE Australian professional cycling team by claiming overall victory in the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under.
This six-stage race in Adelaide, South Australia marks the start of the UCI ProTour season. In 2008 it achieved the distinction of being the first UCI ProTour event held outside Europe. And in 2012 it marked the ProTour debut of Australia's own GreenEDGE.
Subaru is a proud partner of GreenEDGE, which made cycling history in December 2011 when it became Australia's first professional cycling team to achieve UCI WorldTour status.
"For GreenEDGE this partnership is extremely valuable on several levels. With Subaru, we have access to the perfect vehicles for all our different purposes and demanding tasks throughout the season. Also, and just as importantly, we're part of great initiatives promoting sustainability, safety and the joy of riding bikes. It's great to see a big, international brand like Subaru support such a valuable cause and we are very happy to be a part of it too." - Shayne Bannan, GreenEDGE GM
