This five-day event is brought to you by MTBA and a team of 300 volunteers. The purpose is to crown a national champion in each of these five mountain biking disciplines:

  • Downhill
  • Cross Country
  • Short Course Cross Country
  • 4x
  • Trials

There are also two demonstration events:

  • Pump track
  • Dirt jump

The Eagle Mountain Bike Park is one of the best facilities in the country, with the event "village" nestled amongst an amphitheatre of trails.

As well as the best mountain biking action the country can offer across a tightly packed schedule, there is music, dirt jumping demos, race commentary and live action on a big screen to add to the atmosphere.

Saturday and Sunday will see all the major finals. Among the competitors will be downhill Junior World Champion Troy Brosnan, and former elite downhill world champion Sam Hill plus a field stacked field with talented riders across all categories.

MTBA high performance team members, Lachlan Norris (@lachlannorris) and Rowena Fry (@rowfry), will be blogging for Subaru Active at the championships.

"It's an Olympic year, and that brings into focus the preparation of our top athletes," said Chris Clarke, Mountain Bike Australia's National Sporting Director.

Not only is Subaru the naming rights sponsor for the championship, it has paired with SBS, who will be at the event filming a special two-hour highlights program that will appear on the national broadcaster at 3pm on Sunday March 4.

"Mountain biking is a fantastic sport that has plenty of appeal across the community, but particularly with many Subaru owners," said Subaru General Manager Marketing, Andrew Caie.

"It is really exciting for us to be involved for the first time and we are particularly pleased that we will help to bring a stand alone TV program on the championship to SBS for the first time."

Subaru Australia proudly supports Mountain Bike Australia's mission, which is to develop and promote mountain biking in Australia for the benefit and enjoyment of all members.
